Talking to mates before, after the race and talking to them in the marshalling tent, especially the mates that are from clubs further away that you only see at carnivals.
Who is your role model and why?
Wes Gould, because I know him very well and he came from the same club as me and he went all the way through surf club to make it into the Nutri-Grain series, that’s inspiring because Mullaloo is not a very famous club.
What inspires you to be your best?
Knowing that me being fit and healthy at my best and me trying my hardest is better than not being all that, better for the future and for the present.
Walk us through your routine of getting ‘in the zone’ before a major event / race
Early night because wake up early morning, drinks lots of water and having a bit to eat, mainly some fruit and a piece of toast, I always pack my bag the night before because it’s hard to remember what to take early in the morning, moderate warmup not too hard, sit-down drink water and relax till the race.
To date, what’s your career highlight?
U12 Cameron Relay, because we were on the starting line just about to start, and we were still waiting on our two runners then they came in on a jet ski from out the back out of nowhere and they ran up the beach ready and we started and that race we ended up winning at states.
Going into this season, what’s your number one goal?
To make the Western Suns as a first year U17 against the older kids.
It’s the night before a big competition... what’s your must-have meal?
Penne past with chicken is my favourite pasta so I pretty much always have that.
What’s your favourite song to listen to before competing or during training?
Salvadore by Jamie T
What makes Engine products different from other gear out on the market?
There’s a very wide range of what you can wear, if it’s a cold day there’s cold engine gear to wear and the same with a hot day, there comfortable and flexible on the arms and legs especially.
What’s your crucial Engine product(s) and why?
Club Cut surf, because they are so flexible, comfortable, easy to run in and they are also very quick dry which I find very handy. I find them the best for Ironman because easy to run in and comfortable to swim in.
