What’s your favourite thing about competing?
Meeting new friends from all over Australia and the rivalry surf life saving has to offer.
Who is your role model and why?
Ali Day- Why? Because he has changed the sport and taken it to a whole other level from Shannon Eckstein and to come back from injury and have the discipline and the work ethic he has is amazing. I look up to Ali and love training with him when on the Gold Coast.
What inspires you to be your best?
Things that inspire me to be my best would be my family, my coaches and other peers around me.
Walk us through your routine of getting ‘in the zone’ before a major event / race
Two days before a Major event like Aussies would be a light swim in the morning then straight to recovery.
Hot and cold baths are a must.
After that I would probably go for a massage just to shut down for an hour and relax.
Carb load that night then the next day I would wake up around 9-9:30 and have a big brekky and maybe go for a light iron session around 1-2pm.
The night before I would eat light but still lots of carbs. The morning of race day I would probably wake up around 6:30am and eat something very light, get to the beach around 7am for a 7:15am warm up and an 8:15-8:30am start.
On race day I would mostly sip on a cold water bottle and a blue Powerade which gets me ready for racing.
To date, what’s your career highlight?
My career highlight would definitely be winning the U15 Ironman at Maroochydore in remembrance of Mathew Barclay at Aussies 2021.
Going into this season, what’s your number one goal?
I guess my big goal for this season would be winning multiple gold medals at Aussies. My minor goals for this season would be top 20 at the trials and make day two, along with summer of surf open iron finalists and age group wins.
It’s the night before a big competition... what’s your must-have meal?
I can’t go past Mum’s home made lasagna.
What’s your favourite song to listen to before competing or during training?
Renegade Master (Back Once Again)- Deeperlove
What makes Engine products different from other gear out on the market?
Engine offers a wide variety of apparel and training products for both surf and pool competitors. I love how they cover everything from swimwear, workout gear, puffer jackets, goggles and training aids. They are definitely the best in the business when it comes to competing in the surf.
What’s your crucial Engine product(s) and why?
My crucial engine products would be Engine weapons in clear and I can’t go past the club cut logo pool in deep blue. These two products would easily be two of my most favoured products to train and race in
